Let's take a look at the ranking of YouTube views for K-POP music videos.


PSY's "Gangnam Style" was the first Korean music video to officially surpass one billion views on YouTube. It achieved this milestone in 2012. Among K-POP groups, Girls' Generation's "Gee" was the first to surpass one billion views, while as a solo idol singer, HyunA's "Bubble Pop" music video was the first to surpass one billion views.

As of March 8th, 2023, "Gangnam Style" has achieved 4.72 billion views, maintaining its position as the top-ranked K-POP music video on YouTube. It once held the title of the most viewed video on YouTube worldwide. Psy's "Gentleman," released after "Gangnam Style," also ranks high with over one billion views achieved in 2016.

In terms of K-POP idol groups, BTS and BLACKPINK are overwhelming leaders. BLACKPINK is known as the "YouTube Queen" and on September 10th, 2021, surpassed Justin Bieber to become the artist with the most subscribers on their worldwide YouTube channel. Their music video for "DDU-DU DDU-DU" is the most viewed K-POP group music video in the world, the first K-POP group music video to surpass one billion views, and as of 2021, has surpassed 1.5 billion views, with over 1.9 billion views as of 2022, currently ranking second with 2.02 billion views. The third-ranked K-POP group music video with the most views is BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love," with 1.75 billion views.

BTS's "Dynamite" ranks fourth with 1.65 billion views. In the middle of 2022, it surpassed Justin Bieber to become the second-ranked artist channel worldwide on YouTube. BTS has over 50 music videos with over one billion views, including solo and Japanese-language works.

The DNA music video became the first K-pop group to surpass 600 million views on January 9, 2019. On June 1, 2020, it became the first K-pop boy group to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. The music video for "Butter," released on May 21, 2021, surpassed 100 million views on YouTube in just 20 hours and 55 minutes, setting a new record for the shortest time to reach this milestone worldwide. Dynamite broke the record for the shortest time to reach 700 million views in K-pop history and was the only K-pop group to achieve 1 billion views in less than a year.

The fifth most viewed music video on YouTube for K-pop group BTS is "Boy With Luv," which has recorded 1,650,301,374 views as of now.

The sixth most viewed music video on YouTube is "Gentleman" by Psy, which has recorded 1,545,285,849 views. K-POP_8

The seventh most viewed music video on YouTube is "Boombayah" by BLACKPINK, which has recorded 1,548,273,737 views. The eighth most viewed music video is "DNA" by BTS with 1,517,364,309 views. The ninth most viewed music video is also by BTS, "MIC Drop," with 1,312,901,034 views. The tenth most viewed music video is "As If It's Your Last" by BLACKPINK with 1,255,467,106 views.


Since Psy opened the door for K-pop on YouTube, BTS and BLACKPINK have emerged as the most influential artists in the top 10 rankings. Here are the rankings for 20th to 30th:
